HHH MAGAZINE:

Let’s begin with the basics; you know in case someone in the universe doesn’t know who you are, (LOL)
What’s your name, rank & serial #, just kidding, but let’s begin with your name
GAGE:

My name is Gage and am An Artist repping Washington D.C (DMV).

HHH MAGAZINE:

Now let’s get into why you chose to a career in music:
What is your motivation?
What/who are your influences?
GAGE:

Growing up i loved the way records by Run Dmc, Eric B and Rakim, Biggie, Pac, Hov and Nas made me feel. It gave me a sense of being I could relate to those artist in some way so as my love for hip hop grew stronger and i started to make my own music i wanted to give the people the same feeling that “Oh sh*** did u hear what he just said rewind that back” type of feeling back in the game. My influences are really the lyric driven hip hop guys like Cool G rap Big daddy kane, Jadakiss, Nas, Jay-z, Biggie,2pac and Pusha T from the Clipse just to name a few.

HHH MAGAZINE:

Really picking your brain now:
What are your thoughts on the direction of Hip Hop today?
GAGE:

I would say hip hop today is under construction because right now al u hear is Autotune records and the same “make up a dance” themed music i.e “your a jerk” “swagg surfing”. And if we only make records like this hip hop might Die like hair metal did But with albums that just dropped by Jay-z, Raekwan i think it’s going back to the good time in hip hop like the 90’s era. My advice to somebody who wanted to start a music career would be do it for the Love and not for the fame or fortune because at the start of your career you will spend more money doing stuff for free like shows and giving out free music to get your name out there so u have to do it for the love or it will be pointless

HHH MAGAZINE:

Do you think that some of the music out today has lost its originality?
GAGE:

Yes some of the music has lost it’s originality cause every ones making records that sound like the same cookie cutter stuff they play on radio. People are afraid to do something new which is really what hip hop is all about. I think hip hop can come back to the roots if  the artist are not afraid of doing music from the heart instead of going with what everyone else is doing.. like the new Jay-z album is amazing and what drake is bringing to the game is fresh kind of like what am doing with my EP “Heir to the throne” which comes out 11.20.09

How do you think it can come back to its roots? Do you think it can?

HHH MAGAZINE:

Your projects:
What are you currently working on now?
GAGE:

Right now am done recording my EP “Heir to the throne” and i luv what i did with it cuz it’s so cohesive and universal so if your a hip hop head or flu lady you will definitely love it. I was doing shows with the band sex and missiles which was basicaly mixing hip hop with rock and that was very cool but after my EP drops i might do a best of both worlds album with the lead singer in the band i did shows with john soares a.k johhny redrock and then after that put out my next project and just keep making that good hip hop.
